Among the most iconic motorsport liveries is Subaru’s traditional blue, yellow, and gold rally combination. Born originally out of the State Express 555 World Rally program from the early 90s, the palette and styling came to define Subaru’s visual identity, long outlasting 555’s sponsorship. Until 2008, when orders came down from Subaru top brass to reconcile Subaru Rally Team USA’s visual identity with corporate brand guidelines and release of the all new race-bred Impreza. How to satisfy new brand mandates, honor Subaru’s rich livery history, and not alienate an incredibly passionate and loyal customer fan base? Like playing with fire. But when the car debuted at ESPN’s X-Games with Travis Pastrana behind the wheel, looking equally at home soaring over 78ft gaps as it had in the past, we knew we had made it to the other side. This one was a must see in action. Click the image above for more photos. // PROJECT ROLE : Account Management, Project Management
