Cutting edge technology is central to motorsports. The chassis, aerodynamics, engines, brakes, and electronics are in a constant state of flux. Those who do not evolve fall behind; it is that simple. Working in the motorsports industry for as long as I have, it is not uncommon to work on projects debuting new technologies. However, the DeltaWing represented something different – the difference between evolution and revolution. Award-winning engineer, Ben Bowlby, challenged conventional wisdom leveraging conventional technologies in an unconventional design to achieve comparable road going performance with half the power, half the weight, half the drag, and half the fuel consumption. The DeltaWing is a historic technical milestone and was a privilege to work on. We worked with Highcroft Racing and DeltaWing during the formative stages of their 24 Hours of Lemans Project 56 bid to develop pre-construction visualization renderings, iconography, and promotional apparel concepts.
